IDeaS is not a destination, it’s a journey.
A journey filled with- Innovation, Experiences, Learning, and Growth.
We are always on the lookout for people who understand and connect with our quest for excellence. And sometimes, they find us. One such story is that of Parag Kadam. Parag, who had multiple job offers, chose IDeaS for his journey of learning. He brought with him his rich experience, which added to the team’s strength. Read his answers to know how his #First90DaysAtIDeaS are a result of a cold approach, great observation, love for technology, and of-course destiny.
Here is Parag talking about his #First90DaysAtIDeas:
Q: When did you join, and what is your role with IDeaS Revenue Solutions?
I joined IDeaS in May 2020 as a Senior Software Engineer.
Q: The hiring process is a way for a company and the candidate to know each other. What impression did IDeaS leave on you while you were going through the hiring process?
The hiring process, I felt, was well established. Every round had a certain objective criterion to be met to move to the next round — Right from the online test to the Managerial round.
Q: Anything about the process that you found interesting? Why?
I approached IDeaS by emailing their Careers team and was least expecting any response for such a cold approach. However, to my surprise, I was called by the HR team discussing the role and the interview process which eventually lead to my selection.
Q: Why did you choose to work with us? Is it the products, technologies, innovation program, career growth, culture, or everything?
Before I decided to join IDeaS, I had multiple offers in hand to choose from. Compared to the other companies, I found that IDeaS had a large team which could give me exposure to different perspectives and learnings, I also noticed that people here on average were staying longer with the company indicating a good culture and happy employees. The compensation offered was pretty competitive, the technologies that are used here matches my interests and also the hospitality domain felt interesting as being a customer of hospitality is very exciting in itself. Due to all these reasons, I decided to give it a try.
Q: One does not just open the editor (computer) and start coding (working) — How are you getting up to speed with the work? Are you getting the support you need to get things done?
There was a plan sketched out before my joining date which ensured smooth onboarding for the project I am working on. The plan had the topics to be covered on a given day and this went on for up to a month from joining. Also, after the training, being a new member there was help available when I started to work on my stories.
Q: Learning a new skill or upskilling what are you doing currently?
Yes, here at IDeaS we have tie-ups with online training partners like Code Academy and there is also in-person training provided. I recently finished on AWS and Angular training and will soon start with MongoDB training. These trainings prove very helpful for better execution of the work that we do on a daily basis and also it overall makes you better professional.
Q: Anything specific you are ecstatic to work on?
The infrastructure of the product that I am working on is currently on-premises and we want to move it to the cloud, for this we have chosen Azure as the cloud platform and learning more about it. This transition is surely going to be very challenging and a lot of lessons are going to be learnt in that process. This is something I am looking forward to and very excited about.
Q: Define #LifeAtIDeas in your own words?
I am amongst the very few employees who were interviewed and onboarded during the lockdown and did not get a chance to visit the office or meet the team hence answering this one is a little tough for me. Having said that, the work-life balance here seems good and there are various activities including sports events which is fun. And also, there is a yearly Goa outing 😊
With his focussed approach to work and life, we foresee many growth opportunities in the future for Parag. And we surely will be in the audience when he fulfills his aspiration of being a TedX Speaker.
